Has Peter Everett’s departure from ‘Ready Steady Cook’ impacted the ratings?
Many fans of Peter Everett have expressed their anger towards his departure on the hit daytime cooking series ‘Ready Steady Cook’. However, has the change in host from Everett to Colin Lane had much of an impact on the ratings?
While many fans have stated that they would boycott the series, there has so far been no major drop in the ratings due to the change of host.
Based on ratings figures obtained by TV Central, here is an analysis of last week’s figures for Colin Lane in comparison to Peter Everett’s time on ‘Ready Steady Cook’.
Monday June 20th – 144 652 viewers. On the previous 18 weeks, Peter performed better on 8 of those 18 weeks. Colin’s episode was higher on all other weeks.
Tuesday June 21st – 163 555 viewers. On the previous 18 weeks, Peter could not better that. This is the highest Tuesday ratings for ‘Ready Steady Cook’ this year.
Wednesday June 22nd – 166 859 viewers. On the previous 18 weeks, Peter performed better on just 2 of those 18 weeks, making Colin’s episode the third highest Wednesday episode this year.
Thursday June 23rd – 151 367 viewers. On the previous 18 weeks, Peter could not better that. This was the highest Thursday ratings for the show this year.
Friday June 24th – 145 998 viewers. On the previous 18 weeks, Peter performed better than that on just 4 occasions.
The rating figures above is no reflection on the personality of Pete Everett as fans still miss the fun and enjoyment he brought to the series. TV Central has received a number of comments recently expressing anger over the change of host:
“Please bring back Peter! This new guy so painful to watch. I used to love Ready Steady Cook, now I just cannot watch it. Peter you are a legend.!” (Debra, June 30)
“Does what viewers want count? Is the Ten Network reading this? Because the show is like a burst balloon. Peter is hugely popular, he makes viewers want to watch the show because of his presence. Why ruin a good recipe? …The program will have one less viewer because I find it too painful to watch and quite frankly boring, which goes to show how important Peter’s presence was.” (Anna, June 30)
“Have 10 gone nuts Bring Peter back, the program is now boring I will not be watching any more” (Pamela Harris, June 29).
‘Ready Steady Cook’ with Colin Lane airs weekdays 2pm on Ten.
