There's a mini interview with Col about this in the Adelaide Sunday Mail TV Guide. I'll try and get 'round to scanning it when I can

Colin's on The Circle tomorrow morning. He's probably there to promote RSC. Then at 2pm...

From what I have heard, there are mixed reviews on Col's hosting today. There are a few people who aren't used to a new host, which I can understand. But there are heaps of people who said they loved the show!
I can't wait to getting around to watching it!

Yeah fair enough, at least there's still love and support for him =) Apparently he was a bit nervous for the first show, but I'm sure he'll get used to it after a couple of episodes (and I can't really blame him since it's his first solo role in something. Hopefully other people would understand that)

Just watched his first episode! I could tell that he was nervous, he kinda didn't know what to say some of the time! I couldn't compare his hosting job to that of Pete's because it's been years since I last saw him, although from what I remember Col did a better job! I think it will take time for the regular audience who love Pete to get used to Col's hosting style but I'm sure they will get over it! But all in all, I think Col did an awesome job and I think I may just become a new regular viewer

Damn, wish I could have watched it! Hopefully I'll be home from work in time to watch it tomorrow.
I guess if Col's nervous he's probably over-compensating a little bit in what he's doing, and if the regular audience doesn't quite "get" his sense of humour either it would make things a bit harder for him.

Check out this ridiculous news article from TV Tonight: " Ready, Steady, Cook fans already miss Peter EverettSome TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when fresh episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook with new host Colin Lane hit the screens. Maybe they hadn’t heard he was replacing Peter Everett. A wave of comments hit TV Tonight yesterday afternoon, almost all of which were upset that Everett would no longer be appearing on the popular show. Many of them let fly at TEN: Liz: Sorry to see you go Pete, loved the show because you were in it. Not the same without you, always looked forward to your happy, genuine self. Channel 10… not happy! Penny: Very shocked that Peter would not be hosting anymore, my 14 month old daughter loved ready steady cook, once it came on today and she didn’t see Peter on the screen she was not interested anymore and turned away. Peter was the show, and its boring now! Lynette: I love Peter & the show but without Peter I am not interested in watching anymore, he made the show. So sad. Good luck Peter for your future. Beatrice Timmis: i love ready steady cook but peter everett was the show i watched it every day i loved it from the moment it started till it finished sorry but i will not watch it any more even for the reciepes i will continue to buy the book why do you do things like that i dont know Lorraine Usher: Cannot believe that channel 10 has parted ways with Peter Everett, lost a viewer with this household…. Sacha Haddad: OMG he will bemissed i definetly won’t be watching the show anymore. He was so easy going and funny. Kay Warrop: After watching the first edition of Ready Steady Cook with new hoast I was very dissapointed as Peter Everett really made the show so now you have not only lost a veiwer for this show but for other shows as well. Hope he comes back with another channel. Belinda Smith: Bring back Pete! The show sucks without him. Sharon n: Bring back Peter Everett. I like Colin lane but the show is not the same not sure if I will continue to watch. Liz Whitton: I for one will no longer watch RSC. The new host has no personality what a dead pan Bring Back Peter Everett he was the life of that show. Channel ten you are gone gone gone. Hilary Bell: Oh, no, only 20 minutes into the new show and Colin Lane looks like a duck out of water. He spends more time looking at the camera than at what is being cooked. Please bring back Peter Everett – a delightful man who drove the chefs crazy on occasions but had a delightful personality with lots of hugs (and self deprecation so often) but he was really interested in what was going on and added so much fun to the show. But some were glad to see him replaced with Lane: Sharon: My husband and I both agree that peter Everett was so inappropriate with contestants and chefs alike, we are glad he is gone and hope that the series keeps going with the new host as we do like the show." - www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/06/ready-steady-cook-fans-already-miss-peter-everett.htmlBoohoo, new host, changes always happen peoples, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. I'm sure you will all get over it eventually. By the way, I think Colin Lane has a much larger fanbase than Peter bloke did anyway...so HA!

These people are morons! Yes, I'm sure it was a shock but if they don't find the show interesting (which is in the end about the cooking) because of the host then they obviously don't like the concept of it at all -_-

Ah jeez (to the viewer comments )... There must have been a reason for Peter leaving as host. From what I saw of him he seemed pretty quirky, but eh. Bagging out Colin after one episode is a bit much isn't it? He's just trying to establish himself in the role - give him a chance people! (obviously that's not directed to anyone here, just to clear that up - I know we're all on the same page as far as this goes ) And I'm watching it now - he seems ok so far (although I'm a bit distracted by other things at the moment, hah )

And I do totally agree with you, bagging him out after one episode is harsh. Give him a week or more at lease, and if he really grinds your gears, turn it off. Better not reading the complaints than hearing their whinging every day. Anyway...how did he go today?

He seemed ok from what I could see. Not too over the top or anything, but he was quirky which was still good. To be honest I wasn't paying too much attention though, coz I was caught up in other things at the time >_>

hmm well i don't actually watch RSC so i wouldn't know how 'tactful' and 'intrusive' he was. Given the way Everett got suddenly replaced though, I guess I'm not surprised that Col is the target to neg comments by Everett fans (even though it's wrongly done so). And people can so easily react to change... It would probably die down after a while though, and I hope that old and new fans of the show would warm up to Col a bit more.
and omg, he's not just 'another presenter' >=S Gawd, things that make me boil up inside...

It is quite interesting to learn that he didn't leave the show by his own choice, actually. I saw a few episodes here and there with him as host and he seemed quite good, and I noticed how tactile he was as well with some of the chefs/guests on the show.
But it's also a shame that Colin's receiving such negative reactions from people over this; it's not his fault it's happened, and now people are switching off because of it which isn't a good thing; they won't take the time to get used to his style.
Aaah well! Hopefully it'll work out in the end *shrug*
I still haven't seen any other episodes myself so I haven't been able to note how Colin's going with things. I just hope he won't take the negative comments to heart - but then again I guess you'd have to be pretty thick-skinned to be in that business so he's most likely got his own ways of dealing with that sort of thing.

Yet another article!
My opinion stands...GET OVER IT! Change happens peoples. I've now watched a couple of eps of Col's hosting job and I think he is a little nervous (who isn't when they are starting a new job, let alone in TV) but doing an awesome job, keeping everyone entertained! The viewer does need to realise that the entertainment factor and the hosts impact is quite large however the main aspect of the show is the cooking!
