All talk of Frank's new TV series, Woodley, will now be posted in this thread (because the last thread went a bit off topic!).
"Woodley is a half hour visual comedy about a man who is as close as you will ever get to being a 40 year old child. While there is an innocence and charm to the man, and his heart is always in the right place, you can also understand that living with him would require the patience of a saint. Unfortunately his lovely and long-suffering ex-wife, Mel, could take no more and, as the series begins, we find Woodley living alone and sharing custody of their delightful 8 year old daughter. When Mel decides to first date and possibly marry Terry, a local psychiatrist, then mayhem ensues as Woodley attempts to win her back."

Filming has begun!! " Cameras roll on WoodleyJustine Clarke and Tom Long have joined Frank Woodley’s new ABC comedy, simply titled Woodley. Clarke will play the ex-wife of the accident-prone Woodley, and mother to their seven-year-old Ollie (Alexandra Cashmere). The physical comedy will see him try to reunite with her, but finds her new boyfriend Greg (Tom Long) will get in the way. “I’m absolutely rapt that the lunatics at the ABC are helping me make something so unusual, a romantic comedy in which almost all the jokes are visual. We’re attempting to create a world of exhilarating comic nonsense, with an undertow of the sadness and the yearning for love that’s part of all our lives,” said Woodley. ABC TV’s Head of Comedy, Debbie Lee added, “Viewers of all ages are in for a real treat. With a terrific cast on board and a wonderfully romantic script, Woodley is shaping up to be one of the comedy highlights of the year.” The 8 part series, written by Woodley, begins shooting in Melbourne this week and will air later in the year on ABC1. Produced by Bucket Tree productions, it is directed by Trent O’Donnell. Woodley previously appeared in the ABC comedy The Adventures of Lano & Woodley." - www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/01/cameras-roll-on-woodley.html

And here is another article from the Sydney Morning Herald! " Woodley to wow with new comedyAussie comedian Frank Woodley has thanked the "lunatics" at the ABC for letting him make a new eight-part romantic comedy series that begins filming this week. The "unashamedly sentimental" comedy, called Woodley, will begin shooting in Melbourne this week and is due to air later in the year. It promises to be filled with "virtuosic physical mayhem", in keeping with Woodley's 25-year history of physical high jinks. Also starring Justine Clarke and Tom Long, Woodley tells the story of a chaotic and accident-prone father of a seven-year-old who is hoping to win back his ex-wife. His ex-wife is also hoping that he will be successful, but with her new boyfriend on the scene, things aren't that simple. "I'm absolutely rapt that the lunatics at the ABC are helping me make something so unusual - a romantic comedy in which almost all the jokes are visual," Woodley said in a statement yesterday. "We're attempting to create a world of exhilarating comic nonsense, with an undertow of the sadness and the yearning for love that's part of all our lives." Woodley was formerly half of the award-winning duo Lano and Woodley who parted ways in 2007. The ABC's head of comedy, Debbie Lee, said the show promises to be one of the comedy highlights of the year. "With a terrific cast on board and a wonderfully romantic script ... viewers of all ages are in for a real treat," she said in a statement." - www.smh.com.au/entertainment/tv-and-radio/woodley-to-wow-with-new-comedy-20110117-19tya.html

Also: blogs.abc.net.au/abc_tv/2011/01/woodley-woos-abc-tv.htmlFilming starts this week on the new 8-part comedy series Woodley, written by and starring one of Australia’s much loved comedians, Frank Woodley. Filled with virtuosic physical mayhem, Woodley is an unashamedly sentimental comedy the whole family will enjoy. Woodley is the chaotic and accident prone father of 7-year-old Ollie (Alexandra Cashmere). His ex-wife, Em (Justine Clarke), couldn’t live among the chaos but he secretly hopes that one day he’ll win her back ... and there is nothing he won’t do to get the family together again. But with Em’s new boyfriend Greg (Tom Long) on the scene, it’s not going to be easy for him. Frank Woodley has been at the forefront of physical comedy for the last 25 years, largely as one-half of the award-winning duo Lano and Woodley. Since 2007, Frank has been performing in sell-out solo shows in Australia and the UK. Frank says, “I’m absolutely rapt that the lunatics at the ABC are helping me make something so unusual, a romantic comedy in which almost all the jokes are visual. We’re attempting to create a world of exhilarating comic nonsense, with an undertow of the sadness and the yearning for love that’s part of all our lives.” ABC TV’s Head of Comedy, Debbie Lee, says, “Viewers of all ages are in for a real treat. With a terrific cast on board and a wonderfully romantic script, Woodley is shaping up to be one of the comedy highlights of the year.” A physical comedy of epic proportions, Woodley will be shot on location in Melbourne over the next seven weeks and will air later in the year. Production Credits: A Bucket Tree Production in association with ABC TV and Film Victoria. Directed by Trent O’Donnell, producers Frank Woodley, Simon Wright and Andy Walker. Executive producers Kevin Whyte and Debbie Lee.

"Done 2 days of filming "Woodley". Alexandra Cashmere the girl playing Ollie my seven year old daughter is a wonderful little actor. We did a scene today where I lobbed a pickled onion in the air and she caught it on a fork. She did it first try. I'm sure people will reckon it's CGI. (If so it stands for "Cashmere's Got It"!)"

"One of the episodes of Woodley is based in a circus and Silvers circus are letting us use their Big Top and a bunch of their acts so I went out and saw a matinee show today in Narre Warren. Amazing stuff. (Do kids who grow up in the circus dream of running away and joining an accounting firm?)"

"Woodley"s on the ABC - 2nd half of the year. Yesterday we shot a scene where I knock over a vase and smash a cremation urn. The urn was meant to just break into pieces and it had a small charge in it to assist the smash. When the vase hit it, the urn remained intact but the lid blew off with an explosion of sparks and flames. It was the most unconvincing image in the history of cinema."

I recieved an e-mail from the ABC today: " Scheduling for this program is still yet to be finalised, so I am still unable to give you broadcast dates. In the meantime, visit www.abc.net.au/tv for updates." I'll be keeping an eye out on that page, and any pages for that matter! If anyone finds out anything, let us know in this thread!
