I have seen a few clips previously and have quite enjoyed them, but not quite sure if I should actually get into watching them.
Should I bother?

I have found that just listening to their songs (except for the one about the Racist Dragon) isn't as funny as seeing it attached to a plot.

Is the show kinda like Glee, not the story line but the format?

No. It's like... well, it feels like a more deadpan Lano and Woodley. Two rather loserish guys are best friends and share a house and are apparently professional musicians but they never get any gigs. No live audience, and it's not ... hugely cheery like Glee is with all Singing and Dancing Action. They just... break into song a few times an episode, and it's to do with the plot. Often the background changes when they start singing. It's more subtle comedy than LW. Here's a song, Bret You Got it Goin' On. Sometimes it's full dance routine stuff with backgrounds and whatnot, other times it's ... commentary about what's going on (so they'll be going around singing and the other characters don't notice they're singing) and other times they're just... singing. Since they're musicians, music is part of their lives. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtfQg4KkR88Bret was feeling bad about himself so Jermaine sings him a song in their bedroom that he wrote. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLEK0UZH4cs Think About It- one where it's a Musical Number and they're not 'really singing', it just tells what they're thinking about sort of. Other times there's songs that are music videos since they're musicians themselves, so it just shows them filming one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iSlPoQm2XY Here's one where it's all Song and Dance number with a background and stuff. A Kiss is Not A Contract. A girl Bret kissed wants sex, he doesn't.
