I'm sorry if there's already a thread about this, but it probably hasn't been commented on for a number of years so it'll be easier to make a new one. Anyway, I was wondering if, for those of you who were lucky enough to see Lano & Woodley, could please explain the differences between The Island/Goodbye DVDs to the versions you saw live? Some of you have seen the shows three or four times, and I am very jealous. I was wondering in particular with the scene in The Island where the suitcase catches fire and how after they use the fire extinguisher, they quickly cut to the next scene. They claim it was not supposed to happen, but it's so hard to tell with those two - what happened at everyone else's shows? Also, Frank mentions something about "newspaper" - did I miss out on a whole hilarious Lano & Woodley section by only relying on the DVD? After all, they said themselves how much they changed the shows as they toured around. Thanks everyone!

I saw Sing Songs and Goodbye live. From what I can remember Goodbye was more or less exactly the same as the DVD. I saw Sing Songs at the Octagon (so crazy when I have lectures in there because I end up day dreaming about the show lol) and because it is fairly small it was more of an intimate show and there was a lot more audience interaction. Col spoke to my family about camera's and he posed for us on stage

Yeah, from the videos I've seen, Sing Songs does look a lot more intimate - I mean, there were tons of people at the Goodbye show from the DVD. I think it was in Melbourne, right? Anyway, It's interesting 'cause when I saw Adam Hills last year it was at the Thebby - for those of you from Adelaide, you know where I'm talking about - which is this huge hall, so it wasn't intimate at all. But when I saw him at the Fringe this year in the Speigletent, there was only like 10-20 rows and so it was a pretty small venue, which I preferred. It must be kinda hard for people to remember explicit details from shows 4 years ago, so I apologize for that. I do remember someone saying in a "Goodbye" thread that apparently Col sang to Frank how much he loved him, even though on the DVD he just accepted the flower and then the show finished. Maybe he only did that for one show? I don't know.

No problem. It's a shame no-one else has replied to this yet... I was really looking forward to hearing everyone's stories. Oh well, I guess I'll have to search this board to see what people had to say.

I only went to the Perth Goodbye show, so unfortunately not the only taped in Melbourne and yeah there were a few differences between the DVD and what I saw, I can't really remember Col singing to Frank in the show I saw but they spent AGES on the sign language part lol

Hahaha, great! I love that routine, it's definitely a typical physical-comedy way to start.

The only live show I seen was Goodbye, which I seen in Central Queensland. The storyline of the show was much the same but as in all of their shows they did wander of the 'script' a number of times. Not that they really have a 'script' but they have a general idea of how the show should go. They did chase a young boy (approx 8yr old) around the theatre Which you won't ever see on the DVD hehe. I'm quite sure there is a thread somewere about the hole suitcase fire from the island. If i get the time i will like you to it

Hahaha, that would've been great! What a lucky kid. That reminds me of the special features on the Goodbye DVD, where Frank is in a wheelchair. Classic.
That would be awesome if you could find the thread about the suitcase.
