In Bewilderbeest last night, he sang this absolutely GORGEOUS song called 'Don't Give Up Yet'. He introduced it by saying that he's getting a bit whimsical now, and that it's not supposed to be funny, but it's also not sad, but you can laugh if you want, it's up to you. I think it definitely wasn't a song to laugh at, it was SO SWEET. I really wish he made a cd just so I could get that song. I can only paraphrase the lyrics, and badly. It did rhyme and stuff! Sorry for bad paraphrasing, I can only communicate the story, not the actual song. Christopher is 71 years old and has never been kissed Christopher has come to reconcile with this fact But somewhere deep inside something is saying Don't give up yet, Christopher, don't give up yet. Christopher has a best friend called Paul and for 50 years he's been in love with him Christopher's been too afraid and ashamed to tell him [At this point I was all omg awwwww] But he doesn't know that Paul has always felt the same way So for 50 years they've been like this. [More stuff about don't give up yet] Christopher and Paul go to play golf And on the 9th hole Paul gets a hole in one And hugs his friend without realising what he's done One thing leads to another Don't give up yet... Then the song goes on about now they've blossomed, and it ends with another chorus about not giving up yet. It was so adorable, and was about the only 'serious' part of the show! Does anyone have the actual lyrics?

Weird that he'd choose that song, as it's not even 'comedy' for a comedy festival...

Lyrics!!!
Christopher is 71 and has not been kissed Christopher has long ago resigned himself to this But somewhere deep down tucked inside him Christopher’s kept alive in him a tiny little voice that whispers “don’t give up yet.”
Don’t give up yet. Not yet. Not just yet. Don’t give up Mmmmmmmm Not yet
Christopher has always been in love with his mate Paul But Paul had think that that was weird so he does not dare tell a soul Sadly Paul feels just the same and won’t reveal his heart and so for 50 years they’ve shared a beer but don’t share how they feel
Don’t give up yet. Not yet. Not just yet Don’t give up Mmmmmmmm
Monday’s golf day
Paul tees off from the 9th and hits a hole in one. Christopher hugs his friend before realisin’ what he done One thing leads to another Yes i can confirm the rumours Christopher and Paul are very happy with their new found status as late bloomers Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah As late bloomers YEAH!
Don’t give up just yet Don’t give up Mmm, not yet Not... just... Yet

It's not all that much of a serious song I suppose. He starts talking about gays at the end, which is kinda funny in Frank's way.

I... um. hmn. Never ever find gay love funny, and I don't think he was mucking about with it. He wasn't trying to have a laugh about gays. As he himself said, it's whimsy! Which means it isn't 'serious' but it's also not supposed to be funny. I guess a funny aspect is the sense of 'damn, they were both silent for 50 years!' or calling them 'late bloomers' is very much an understatement.

He put some of his Frank humour in it.

nah thats ok I dont think deep down its really about being gay if that makes sense. I think its just a view point on how we sometimes dont say how we feel or something. And although its not a funny funny song, you can still enjoy it. Its a bit like 'shock comedy' in a way. Its getting it out there to make us think. He's not afterall making fun of them being gay or flat out saying "hey look at them they're weird" or anything like that. But I quess its supposed to be a positive thing. Afterall Christopher and Paul are happy. So either way I like the song and think it's sweet

mm, I did get a bit paranoid there that you were just like 'haha, gays= comedy'. I might need to start a thread on that lately! I was all 'whaaat, but Franky seemed like a good guy...'
Yeah, the bit about late bloomers and that it all led from a hug after getting a hole in one is amusing in a cute way.
Yep, it's about lots of things, about being gay, being yourself, that it's okay to be gay (potentially, though he doesn't say it, I love it when things about gay people are in the media such as songs, and it's in a non judgemental way), telling people that you love them or you might have to wait 50 years (though I guess gay guys from 50 years ago sure had an excuse not to tell!), that you can find love eventually, that late blooming is okay, that old people can be just as cute in love as young, etc etc. Lots of messages.
