DIE, EDDIE, DIE!!!! No, maybe that's a little harsh, but I'm VERY pissed off at him at the moment. I'm so pissed off I'm using an angry face.
TELEVISION is a tough world, so it's lucky Cherie Hausler is about as optimistic and thick-skinned as they come.
The Barossa Valley foodie's latest lifeline in TV-land, Wine Me, Dine Me, has the staggers. Cherie was also a presenter on doomed Channel 9 lifestyle show Our Place, which lasted just six episodes.
Wine Me also stars John Wood, Jennifer Adams and Colin Lane but has been axed from its Friday-night timeslot after just three episodes. A Channel 9 spokeswoman says the remaining seven episodes will be aired at some point in South Australia this year, but just when is still being decided.
In fact, the travel-food show was not even shown in Sydney and Brisbane. Nine bosses chose to beam the rugby live into those markets instead.
"I certainly haven't given up on it yet," Cherie says of the show, despite there being no offer of a second series, as yet.
"But I'm a presenter. I turn up and tell people what would be nice to eat. What happens to it next is out of my hands."
While most people would be disheartened at being involved in two poor-rating shows, Cherie, who has been dividing her time between Sydney and the Barossa, is just glad to be given a chance.
"When I think of the extraordinary number of people who want to be presenters, I give myself a pat on the back every time I get an audition," she admits. "And if you actually get the gig, that's incredible."
"If things are too easy, you don't appreciate them."
She finished her final voice-overs for the show yesterday, but is not heading home just yet - she's had a series of meetings in the Harbour City.
"It's too early to talk about them yet, but hopefully I'll know something soon - it'd be nice to know where I'm going to live and what I'm going to do next," she laughs.
