It took almost 10 minutes for Nic Roach's celebrity guests to answer his first question on Launceston College's radio station LCFM yesterday.
Comedians Lano and Woodley were Mr Roach's first interviewees and were not about to take it easy on the rookie announcer.
In Launceston as part of their final Good Bye tour of 37 Australian cities, the infamous duo of Colin Lane and Frank Woodley made a special appearance at the college before their final show at the Princess Theatre, and chatted at length with Mr Roach.
Well, they chatted and he listened.
The 17-year-old's question about why the duo was splitting up was met with a barrage of answers, all of which were dubious but none of which weren't rib ticklers.
"Frank had an affair with my wife," Lano said.
"It all went a bit Wayne Carey.
"I'm Wayne Carey and Frank's the Stevens guy.
"No, he didn't have an affair with my wife, we had an affair with each other."
For a split second, a serious answer looked to be coming, but hopes were quickly dashed.
"We should tell you why we're really splitting up," Woodley began.
"What happened was when John Howard brought in the new industrial relations laws, Col sacked me.
"He wanted to re-employ me but at a far lower rate of pay."
Back to the drawing board.
The pair eventually indulged their host and confessed that they were hanging up their funny pants because after 20 years in the industry, they wanted to try something else.
"We just want to do some other stuff," Woodley said.
"Lano and Woodley On Ice perhaps," Lano suggested.
"The arena spectacular."
I'm copying and pasting it here, because what if the links 'go'.

FINAL TOUR: Lano and Woodley in Launceston this week. Picture: TRISTAN KELLY
Yesterday at 2pm, the Launceston College FM radio station had an exclusive interview with comedians Lano and Woodley.
The duo are in Launceston for their final tour.
They will visit 37 cities throughout Australia and did two shows in Launceston.
After LCFM had finished their interview with the two, we were lucky enough to grab them for an chat.
When the topic of Woodley's (Frank) hat came up we asked what they were planning on doing with the hat when they finish their tour. Frank seemed to think it was a good idea to donate it to a bald man to keep his head warm here in Launceston.
Frank has had a number of hats tailored for him, and there is one he just won't give up, "one is more snuggly" stated Frank, "and it makes him funnier" added Colin (Lano).
The pair had an interesting experience in Launceston after their Tuesday night show.
A group of their fans picked Lano and Woodley up and and carried them around the Brisbane St Mall on their shoulders.
When asked about the silences that sometimes happen when the audience just doesn't find their jokes funny, they admitted that some of their jokes are just jokes you have to be there for at the time otherwise they might not be funny.
"We will miss each other, but not for a while," stated Colin.
Where do they go from here? "Being a comedian is perfect for me," replied Frank.
"Being paid to be on a holiday south of Byron Bay," sounded about right to Colin.
The two feel if they ever did come back for one more show together they would wait at least 20 years.
So for another 20 years, it's goodbye to Lano and Woodley. ************ Arts, Culture & Entertainment Thanks for the laughs Published Saturday, 1 April 2006 ¤Melbourne performers Colin Lano and Frank Woodley will go their separate ways after 20 years.
Comic duo to say Goodbye. Sometimes you just have to know when to say goodbye.
No long drawn-out battles, no tears, just "goodbye and thanks for the laughs".
Of course, some comic couples, and television programmes, never know when to quit (well before they peak is best), while others, such as Melbourne comic duo Lano and Woodley have looked at their watches and said: "time's up."
There is no rift - it's just that Colin Lano and Frank Woodley, who will be in Launceston next week in the appropriately-named Goodbye, want to go their separate ways after 20 years.
An Australian tour over three months will take in 37 venues.
The pair got together after an "open mike" night at a Collingwood hotel.
The rest has just led from success to total cult figuredom.
They have made TV shows, including The Adventures of Lano And Woodley and Island which, appropriately enough featured in Launceston during Tasmania's own 10 Days On The Island cultural festival.
Lano and Woodley have won the Mo for 2002 comedy group of the year, the Moosehead for best act at the 1993 Melbourne Comedy Festival and the Perrier for best show at the 1994 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Lano and Woodley admit they could possibly go the next 20 years but neither want to go on "just because we had to".
In the meantime, the pair claim that "only the dead and the clinically evil" can resist their unique take on the world with their relentless petty power struggles and love-hate relationship.
Both comics intend to keep on doing what they do best.
Woodley would like to get into filmmaking, Lano is looking at theatre and musicals.
TIME TO GO
WHAT: Lano and Woodley.
WHERE: Launceston's Princess Theatre.
