I noticed ;D Have you ever thought of giving the board a colour make-over? Not that I'm suggesting you should or anything, I'm just wondering if it's something you Mod/Admin types have considered

Yep, considered it. Still working on it though. Also, by the way, not that this has happened yet, but it has in other forums, people got a bit demanding, if anyone wants to suggest stuff, please don't be offended or angry if I don't do it. But in terms of colour scheme, I am thinking of making 'alternate skins' that people can switch to.

Aah yes, the "skins" idea is definitely a good one. If you need or would like any help with anything like that, let me know And don't worry, I won't get offended if you don't want to do something in particular - I've had to say "no" to other people at my boards as well so I know the feeling there

Oh, and something I should point out. While I'm moving threads around... when I move things, it goes to the top of the forum I moved it too. It's very inconvenient and makes it look like the new forum hasn't been posted in since last year.

Hah yeah that is annoying, but you can fix it to make the recent posts go back up to the top. Simply go to Admin > Fix a Board and "fix" the board with the moved threads in it; the threads are put back in the right order

Ooh have you ever considered bringing in different smileys/emos? You work out codes for them and put the codes into Censored Words - then you can set up a selection box that appears when you go to reply to a post (not in the "quick reply" part though).
If you're interested I could go into further detail with it. It's slightly complicated but once you have the hang of it, it's not so hard.
There's also a way to include a preview button in the "quick reply" section as well.

Alrighty, bear with me here, heh! This'll be a long post. I'll start off with the smileys: Ok so this is what needs to be done first – emo/smileys are uploaded into an image programme (Photobucket, etc…) Then you put them into Censored Words, making sure that the code you use matches the image’s name in the URL. So for example… : hug : ( :hug: ) = (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/sailorearth13/ hug.gif) : faint : ( :faint: ) = (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/sailorearth13/ faint.gif) Ok, that’s the easy part, heh! The hard part is the code to create the smiley selection box. This part of code can be edited to suit the amount of smileys used – but it’s important, as I said above, to make sure that the : image: code matches the http:// image.jpg name, otherwise it won’t work (as I’ve found out). Now. This is the code that goes into the Global Header: <SCRIPT language=JavaScript> <!-- /* Extra Smilies, with preview, drop down menu and option to view all by Todge (Todge-@ntlworld.com) Copyright © 2005 Please keep this header intact */ if (location.href.indexOf('action=headersfooters') == -1) { var smilieCode = ' '; var smCode = new Array(); var smilie = new Array(); var content = ' '; // Edit below here... smilie[0] = "http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v54/wyverndragon/morepics/grope.gif",":hug:"; smilie[1] = "http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/sailorearth13/faint.gif",":faint:"; // Edit above here... // cache smilies document.write('<font style="display: none;">'); for(t=0; t<smilie.length; t++) { document.write('<img src='+smilie[t]+'>'); } document.write('</font>'); // set variables for(t=0; t<smilie.length; t++) { smCode[t] = ':'+smilie[t].split('/')[smilie[t].split('/').length-1].split('.')[0]+':'; } content += '<br /><font>'; for (s=0; s<smilie.length; s++) { content+=' <a href=\'javascript:add(" '+smCode +' ")\'><img src="'+smilie+'" border="0" alt=" '+smCode+' "></a> '; } content+='</font>';
smilieCode += '<br /><br /><table bgcolor="000000" border="0"><TR><TD><select name="selectsmilie" style="width: 120px;" onChange="aS(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value)"><option>Select Smilie'; for (p2=0; p2<smCode.length;p2++) { smilieCode += '<option value=" '+smCode[p2]+' ">'+smCode[p2]; } smilieCode += '</select></TD></TR><TR><TD ID="smile" class="windowbg2" height="60" align="center" valign="middle">'; smilieCode += '</TD></TR>'; smilieCode += '<TR><TD class="windowbg2" align="center" valign="middle" height="15"><a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="popsmilies()"></a></TD></TR></table>';
// display smilies function aS(smiley) { for(t=0; t<smCode.length; t++) { if(smiley.match(smCode[t])) { document.getElementById('smile').innerHTML = ' <a href=\'javascript:add(" '+smCode[t]+' ")\'><img src="'+smilie[t]+'" border="0" alt=" '+smCode[t]+' "/></a> '; } } }
function popsmilies() { var TD = document.getElementsByTagName('TD'); for(p=0; p<TD.length; p++) { if(TD.width == '30%' && TD .className == 'windowbg2' && TD .innerHTML.match('Add Smilies:')) { TD[p+1].innerHTML+=content; } } }
// list smilies var TD = document.getElementsByTagName('TD'); for(t=0; t<TD.length; t++) { if(TD[t].width == '30%' && TD[t].className == 'windowbg2' && TD[t].innerHTML.match('Message:')) { TD[t].vAlign = 'top'; TD[t].innerHTML += smilieCode; } }
// show smilies in posts var post = document.getElementsByTagName('TD'); for(pc=0; pc<post.length; pc++) { if(post[pc].colSpan =='3' && post[pc].vAlign == 'top') { for(t=0; t<smCode.length; t++) { post[pc].getElementsByTagName('font')[0].innerHTML = post[pc].getElementsByTagName('font')[0].innerHTML.replace(new RegExp(smCode[t],"g"),'<img src="'+smilie[t]+'" border="0">'); } } } } // --> </script>
This is the code that goes into the Global Footer:
<script> var TD = document.getElementsByTagName('TD'); for(t=0; t<TD.length; t++) { if(TD[t].width == '30%' && TD[t].className == 'windowbg2' && TD[t].innerHTML.match('Message:')) { TD[t].vAlign = 'top'; TD[t].innerHTML += smilieCode; } } </script>
You can see an example of how it looks here: carosobsessions.proboards56.com/index.cgi - if you go into a board (there’s a section for Guests there) and go to make a post, you’ll see what the drop-down selection window looks like.
Hopefully that makes some kind of sense, I know it's a bit complicated, and depending on how many smileys you want to use, takes a little while to set up. But it's pretty handy to have sometimes.

I've got a fair few, if you're interested You'd have to rename/reupload them though. This is the "quick reply preview" code, it just goes into the Global Footer: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- /* preview with quick reply - by ross */ var mes = document.getElementsByName('message'); if(location.href.match(/ion=display/) && mes[0]) { var qrForm = mes[0].parentNode; var preview = '<input name="nextaction" type="hidden" value="post">'; preview += '<input type="submit" accesskey="p" value="Preview" onclick="qrForm.nextaction.value=\'preview\'; return true;" /> '; qrForm.removeChild(qrForm.lastChild) qrForm.innerHTML += preview; } //--> </script>

If someone makes a thread in the 'wrong' spot, I'll just move it to where it's supposed to be. No big deal. If it's about a comedian in general, or a live show you went to see, or want to see (or, it's a live show on dvd) then, it goes in live comedians. If you want to talk about a movie, a tv show, or a book, it goes in media. If it's a comedy tv show, it still goes in media.
