i think it means like in the olden days you just had to turn the little thingy around to the number. look up olden day phones on google.

oh yeah, something about dialing....even though you 'dial' hte numbers on teh buttons. hehe we used to love playing with those phones when mum got the touchpad ones hehe. want to spell the noise but have no idea lol.

Yep, because he can't 'dial'. Back when I was little, lol, there were the phones you actually had to dial. 'olden day' dial phones weren't that long ago, only about 15 years ago really.
