Does anyone know where in Melbourne they filmed the TV series?? I'm assuming its somewhere near the ABC studios in Elsternwick, but nothing in the series gives it away.

nathanest, welcome to the forum, hope you stick around. That's interesting that you assume somewhere near the ABC studios!

I kind of answered my own question after looking through some previous posts, namely this one: colandfrank.proboards56.com/index.cgi?board=tv&action=display&thread=1149317788Drove past it this afternoon... a little disappointed the Trpicana sign was not on the building anymore, but it sure looked really similar. The street has changed a little since the filming, but still just like on the show. I feel like such a fan now!!

Which is fair enough. I know that part of the joke of it (though it actually was named that it's still funny) is that it's such a tacky looking block of flats, and named"Tropicana". I'm sure that people nowadays would see how horrible that looks, it almost makes the flats look *worse*, and wanted to get rid of it due to it being embarrassing.

Does anyone have any directions to get to the Tropicana Flats?? I'm going to Melbourne for a week from next Monday, and I'm planning to drag them my friends to the Flats at some point. What is the name of the street that it is on, and can you catch a bus/tram/some sort of public transport there??

Visit WhereIs and look up directions from Acland Street, St Kilda to Fiona Court, St Kilda. According to the site, it's a 25-minute walk. It took us a while to walk there, but it was worth it. We caught a tram back to the main street of St Kilda after seeing the apartment, because we were so exhausted from walking - but I couldn't tell you which one to catch!

After much pondering, I have finally found out what church they used to film Easter Story in. And i just remembered to they filmed outside a church for the start of Mother, i swear i walked past that church when i went to Williamstown.. And I swear that when I was looking around Williamstown that I wouldve been there and taken a photo, then again there were like 3 gothic design churches....so it was hard to say without actually going in. Anyway yeah i was watching an ep of Blue Heelers, which was filmed in Williamstown and i saw them doing a thing in the church and i started laughing.. hehe It was filmed at St Mary's Catholic Church. Its on Cecil street, and its on the same street as williamstown primary school, which if you watched round the twist, you will instantly recognise teh school. yes i went down that street so yes i saw the church yay lol www.whereis.com/?id=24A2193A5545B8

Hi Guys. Was interesting to read this thread, as I lived in St Kilda for 6 years in the same flats that the series was filmed at, when they filmed both seasons. The street is Argyle St. The Tropicana sign was not originally there, it was added for the series and they kept it there afterwards ! I knew nothing about the filming when it started, I got home from work one day & there they were, camera crews & stuff all over the place. I had to wait awhile before I could get into my own flat ! My flat was the one directly above the one supposedly used by Lano & Woodley. Got to meet the guys & went to a live studio filming of an episode, was very funny. By the way, my old white Holden Torana can be seen parked in the carport in a few episodes, ha !! This is now long gone... Anyway, was an interesting experience. Cheers, Chris.

Hey guys, thought I'd update this thread after 12 YEARS the last comment was closer to season 2 being released than it is to today. Jumped on Google Maps and got into street view, for those that had trouble finding it (like me), it is on the corner of Marriott Street and Argyle Street. For years I thought it was on the corner of Argyle Street and Chapel Street, and was sad to find a new building was put there. But never fear! The original building is still there in all its glory (at least it was in 2019, that's street view's most updated picture). If you're on street view on the computer, you can change the year that the street view was done. So you can go back to 2009 and see what it was like back then, also 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019. What's most interesting is that in 2009 the Tropicana sign is gone and there is some graffiti underneath where it was. In 2013 the graffiti has been painted over, and in 2016 the motherfucking Tropicana sign is back baby! Probably driving to Melbourne later in the year (I live in Adelaide), so I will definitely be visiting and taking some videos, will probably go to some other locations like the church and the pool. Hope at least one other person sees this and has a good day!
