You dont have to make payment for the accomodation untill we get down there, but they like to have a credit card # just in case you dont show up.
I went to the travel agent about flights, and told her we'd be staying around the market area, adn she said that she wouldnt recommend us staying there, cause its a bit of a walk from the theatre, and wouldnt be safe realy at night. So I think we find a hostel within the city. There are a few, but at the moment i have to go to work so i dont have time to post places.

What about the list of suggestions I posted on here a few weeks ago? Some of them are reasonably viable.
I've already booked my flights, but i'd like more info on the accommodation. I'm worried that if we don't organize something soon, we'll be stranded.

Yeah same here!
Um i havent booked my flights yet. I can book one way, cause i got the bonus velocity points. I was thinking of going on the Wednesday, cause its cheaper, but the cheapest flights on Tues and Wed are 6.30am, 7.30am and 8.30pm....and i dont have a car to enable me to get say the 7.30am flight and arrive at the latest 6.30am....though the airtrain i can get there at 6, but im worried about like how big the lines will be... I know that i wouldnt be getting any sleep.
Kirri would you mind reposting those websites you found.

OK Ive got 15529 points wtih the Velocity thing, and so im going to book my flight down. Unfortunately the cheapest flight is on Wed 8 Nov at either 6.30am, 7.30am or 8.30pm, and there is no way i am flying at night. ONly thing I have to pay is $39 tax...hmm why cant they include that?
So yeah im going to now book the 7.30am flight. hehe and get the 5.30am train to the airport. Hmm has anyone ever got a flight early in the morning? Im worried that there will be a long long line and hence i miss the plane

You're all staying at my house!!!!!!!!!
Ahem- where ever that is- I haven't actually found one yet, and now my brother is saying he wants to buy a house and have me live in it! *headdesk*
Really though, if no one can afford a room or is too scared (as I would be) to sleep in a backpackers, you're welcome to come to mine. I'm sure my future housemates will be fine with it, we're pretty hospitable down here in the Melbz.

I can predict that i'll be pounding on your door at 3am in a drunken stupor - or bothering the residents at the Tropicana flats by asking if I could crash on a couch for the night.
Or not!
There's only one problem re: these hostels - I don't own a credit card, and some of these places require a card on check-in. I do like the look of Nomads, though!

I think just as long as one of us has a credit card or something. Going by the stay in the Sydney hostel (NEVER stay at City Central Backpackers!), the credit card is like in case you dont show up, and also its a key/secuity deposit. I have a credit card, but its a bit full lol. HOpefully paid off in 4 mths time (going for a job at the hosptial down the road from me). hehe How awesome would that be if you did rent a place near Tropicana? Or in teh same street that Col used to live in!-And thats not stalking-Col was the one who advertised the street that he used to live at!

It was in some Sydney or melbourne paper...um the Sunday paper of the Age i think. it was in the real estate section, and he was talking about his first house he got etc, and it showed him standing outside his old house, and that he now lives around the corner from it in a renovated house...hmm busy busy! Ill try and see if its stil up in the database i get the articles...otherwise ill scan it in.

FCUUUUUUUKKKKK There was a play in March called Its a Dad thing, and it was directed by Geoff Paine, who was the penguin guy, and I swear that play was at our uni a few months ago. And of course the one in Melb had col in it, but the one in brisbane didnt .....ARRGHHHHHH why do we get the crappy actors? ?!!! Ahh here's the article: MY INVESTMENT ~~~~~~~~ CLAY LUCAS PHOTO: Colin Lane outside the block that housed his first flat, in Charnwood Road, St Kilda. PICTURE: KEN IRWIN Comedian Colin Lane missed out on his first flat when he followed some fatherly advice. Since then he's trusted his own judgement. COMEDIAN Colin Lane jokes that he learnt the hard way you shouldn't always listen to your father. Lane, who with comedy partner Frank Woodley forms the duo Lano and Woodley, says that his quest to buy his first apartment began in 1990 with a little advice from his father: "Don't buy the first apartment you look at." Lane says he missed out on a beautiful two-bedroom older style apartment in Irving Avenue, Prahran, only because he heeded his father's words of wisdom. "It was a beautiful thing, this apartment. They opened the bidding at $80,000, and not one person bid. Not a one," he says regretfully. Born in Perth, Lane moved to Melbourne as a teenager and grew up in East Doncaster. He left home to enrol in a four-year teaching degree at Rusden College, and moved into share houses in Fitzroy and Carlton. "But I was unfortunately on the 10-year plan," he says. "I started in 1984 and got my degree in the mail in 1995." The delay in finishing his degree happened because he was working on his performance career, and by 1990 it had started to take off - to the point where he was able to scrape together a deposit for a flat. So he crossed the river and began looking in St Kilda, not being able to find the older style apartment he wanted in Fitzroy. With his performance work and a variety of odd jobs, the deposit was not too difficult to raise. Squeezing together a deposit in the early '90s wasn't quite so hard then as it is today, says Lane. "It was only a $60,000 loan, which even then wasn't that much." And so in 1990, he bought a small ground-floor apartment in Charnwood Road, St Kilda. "It was a beautiful street, and it was a beautiful renovated mansion split up into apartments." The apartment was also beautiful, says Lane, even if it was on the ground floor and quite dark. "It was the sort of place that, in summertime, you had to take off a jumper to go outside." He paid just $85,000 for the apartment, and sold it in 1997, a few years before the market really took off. "It was cheap to buy and, unfortunately for me, cheap to sell. I sold it seven years later for $120,000." Lane and his partner Marnie and their two children now live just around the corner from the old apartment, in a house they have just renovated. Lane says he views the profit made from selling that first apartment as more of an exercise in enforced saving. "I always looked at it not as a capital gain, but as an incredibly intricate savings account: that you borrow the money to buy it, pay it off, and get whatever's left at the end." Lano and Woodley will perform their duets and songs from their previous incarnation as The Found Objects at the HiFi Bar, 125 Swanston Street, on August 5 and 6 at 7.30pm.

Oh awesome! Thank you so much! Sounds like he has an eye for 'beautiful' things. They used that word a lot in the article. Is it possible to get the picture?

oooyes that would be good. Hmm actually save that till after the show, cause wine etc makes me need to pee a lot, and cause of nerves i wil be needing to pee a lot before the show, right up to the last minute...hmm one of the reasons i got in late lol cuase i knew i would need to pee during the show, and having a half full bladder+ lw+ hysterical laughing= not good combo lol.
I know that i will get no sleep, cause ill be repacking my bag so many times, to make sure ive got what i realy need, and making sure its light as i can get it, cause know that i will buy quite a lot of things, and i dont want to have to pay for excess baggage coming back!
